Gemstones support a good cause

Cathy Downham was in Toronto recently. She dropped off a carpet someone had given her for auction, and then she headed uptown to see about some gemstones; we met at Metalurge, Carol Slavik's jewellery store, on Yonge near Summerhill.

The destination for the money from the sale of the carpet, and the profit from the gemstones, is a small school and clinic in a refugee camp on the Thai-Burmese border.
